When your Mobile rings, can you get to it in time? does it go to Voice Mail?

You can adjust your ring tome in 5 sec increments up to 30 sec by doing the following. XX represents the time in seconds.

Pro Rata Charges - What are they

What is Pro Rata on my line rental?

Pro rata is the period of the line rental - monthly charges for your plan. It covers the period from the date that you connected to your carrier until the time of your first bill. Line rental charges are always paid one month in advance.

When you receive your fist bill, depending on the carrier you connect with, you will either see two separate ‘Monthly Charges for each number connected, which will be the portion of the month before your first bill and the month in advance,

Or you will only see one monthly charge for each line which will just have these two amounts added together.  

Monthly Charges are minimum spend and access fees – Or line rental.

1. Pro Rata – the period from the date that you connected to your carrier until the time of your first bill.

2. The full monthly charge in ADVANCE for the entire following month.

How is pro rata calculated?

Pro rata is calculated by working out how many days you were connected before your first bill is issued and working out what percentage that is the full month

This is then multiplied by the full month’s charges.

Other Information

Pro rata can, depending on the carrier and or plan, also be calculated on Mobile Plans so you just need to be aware of this when you get your first bill.

Remember that your first bill from any telco will have your line rental & Service & Equipment charged 1 month ahead so your first bill will generally always look bigger than it should. This is OK as when you get the final bill from the original carrier that you were with you should see a credit for the portion of Line Rental or Service & Equipment that was not used.

1300 Number - Does your business need one?

There are always reasons why you should or shouldn't have different numbers for your customers to contact you on but one number that is a must for most businesses, small or large is a 1300 number.

I come across many businesses that want to move the location of their office or business either to another suburb or even state, and the unfortunate thing is that when you do this and only have standard land line numbers you will more than likely loose them.

These are numbers that you've probably spent many thousands of dollars advertising to your customers over the years and all of a sudden, their gone. Then you need to try and get new contact details to all your customers so that they can keep doing business with you. - This on its own can be costly and time consuming.

The simple answer is that you probably should have invested in a 1300 number (at least for the main line) as these numbers can go where ever you go. If you move, you simply have your carrier point the 1300 number to the new location.

Other benefits of 1300 numbers are:

• You can look bigger than you are.
• You can look more professional to your new customers.
• People are more likely to call a 1300 number as opposed to a mobile or land line number.
• You make it easier for interstate customers.
• There not that expensive.
